Bill Murdoch Trophy 1999

The Bill Murdoch Trophy for Champion Australian Native Orchid Species of the Year has been awarded to Dendrobium tetragonum 'Bellingen'.

This magnificent plant was grown by Norm and Kay Mitchell, and was Reserve Champion at the Coffs Harbour Orchid Society show. As the description on the nominaton form states, it is very eye catching. The shape and colour of the flowers are excellent, and it is an exceptional example of Dendrobium tetragonum var. tetragonum.

There was a good cross-section of genera represented, although there were more dendrobiums nominated than any other genus.
